The Night Shift is London’s ground-breaking classical night, putting great music into a relaxed and contemporary setting and brought to you by the world-renowned Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

For the first of two intimate shows at Greenwich Sumer Festival we’re joined by four musicians and a special guest singer for a programme of baroque music that all comes from London – including music from Henry Purcell and Thomas Arne. Arne achieved lasting fame as the composer of Rule, Britannia! Let’s hope that by this point in the Games we have reason to sing it…

The Night Shift is a rules-free classical event, so drinks are welcome, you can come and go as you please and the whole evening is introduced by our presenter, Jon Jacob. Please also note that this is a standing event, with limited seating.

Greenwich Theatre Presents William Shakespeare’s ‘The Rape Of Lucrece’

Venue: Little Top
Show Start: 8:30pm
Price: £10 advance £12 on the door

Normal can be extraordinary. Look in detail at an everyday life and you can find art. There is beauty and inspiration right under the couch. Herald Angel Award winning performer Bob Karper has taken stories from the lives of his friends, his American family and strangers he’s met, and mixed them with film, slides and live original music, played on a self-built piano. Parka is a warm, funny, moving show about self-consciousness and the nature of love that makes audience members think, feel and leave delighted.

“Feels like a late-night chat with a stranger in a bar. He is a wistful yet unsentimental storyteller with a beguiling and idiosyncratic style…”
The Guardian

***** “His musical talent is immense, his gift for expression is impressive, his show is a delight. He is a man you’ll wish you knew. Spare no effort. Watch him work.” Fest
